Greens

Generally the Club is happy with the design of greens. The greens on the golf course are generally flattish which mirrors the local terrain.

Whist the Committee are happy with the greens we would suggest that future reconstructions should ideally move out further than the immediate green and surrounds to create green zones which offer more variation and a bit more flair (in such surrounds zone).

While costing slightly more (say 20% of budget) these type of green zones are an investment in the future integrity of the Club.

Drainage is an important feature in green zone reconstruction and on a flat site this normally means having the ability to build up rather than cut into the existing ground.

There is little opportunity to gain additional soil for future construction works from within the golf course however there are a few sites on the golf course where soil can be stockpiled or brought in under arrangement. Such soil is often available from contractors at no cost and if the amount is sizable then the contractor will also shapethe material to design specification.

The MP team consider that this type of planning will save the Club money and result in more options being available to create interest, improve safety and create more"individuality" within holes on the golf course.

Surface / Grass on Greens
It is acknowledged that the Golf Course has several profiles within greens that have been developed at different times over the years which can lead to difficulty in presenting a uniform surface. Generally the Club is happy with the current grass established on greens but it was agreed that a slightly firmer surface would be desirable.
